Maluma, Madonna & Medellin - A Mix Made to Happen
Madonna has officially touched ground in Medallo, and in good time for what Maluma proclaims will be “the most important moment of his career”.

It’s official. Three years after their aptly titled collaboration, “Medellin”, the two (or three) will once again be reunited.
Whether you like him or not, Maluma is determined to put Medellin back on the map #Medellinenelmapa.
Medellin en el mapa - 30/04/22
Tomorrow, the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin will host its biggest concert in history.
With a normal capacity of 45,000 people, temporary upgrades have been made in order to accommodate Maluma’s 54,000 fans tomorrow. They will be surrounding him at 360°, occupying grass space in addition to stands.
Not even the likes of J Balvin or Karol G could give the venue such a run for its money. Why are people flipping out over Maluma?
Marketing… Maluma has craftily built hype for this event after announcing it 5 months ago at the beginning of December.
He has also branded the event as a milestone for his city. Maluma is a proud Medellinense and wants this show to break records. He wants to put Medellin back on the map, for better things.
Madonna is generating hype
After weeks of teasing his 8 million followers on Twitter, Maluma finally broke the seal on his biggest surprise: Madonna.
Don’t blink people – this one’s gonna get hot. Yikes.
The two have enjoyed mutual success after collaborating on a total of 3 songs. When asked about his relationship with her, Maluma praised the 63-year old star for making him “more confident”.
Lovely.
Their song, appropriately titled “Medellin”, has been listened to over 53 million times on YouTube. I’d guess Madonna is acutely aware that tomorrow, during her second trip to Medellin, she will be making history.
You don't have to like Maluma...
Instead, take your pick with Madonna. Ha. Also, RIP to those who live within 5 miles of Estadio.
Personally, I’m not overly impressed with Maluma’s music. He has also kicked up quite the backlash for perpetuating ‘machismo’ values throughout his songs.
Like him or not, Maluma is serving as a catalyst for Medellin’s rise to fame. He is candid about his memories of people badmouthing his hometown.
Even if this was just a front to further his personal name (which I doubt), he is undoubtedly bringing good attention to the region.
Maluma has an international following. His concert will be streamed in over 240 countries!
He has even described the concert as the most important moment in his career. Medellin means a lot to him. In turn, he’s going to bring lots of international attention to the city. I think we can all agree that’s positive.
Amazon Prime & Twitch will be streaming for free.
